We’re thrilled to announce that Grant A Smile has been awarded funding by Essex County Council, who are sponsoring this vital initiative for the next three years and every single part of the program is completely free for carers in our community! A huge thank you to Essex County Council for their commitment to supporting the wellbeing of those who care for others.

Who is this for?

If you’re an unpaid or paid carer living in or around Loughton, Basildon, or Chelmsford, this program is designed just for you. We know that caring for others takes incredible strength, but it can also leave little room for your own wellbeing and you deserve to prioritise yourself too.

What’s on offer and how will it benefit you?

Our program runs for up to 24 weeks at a time, with workshops and support tailored to build your mental health resilience. We believe true wellness starts from the ground up and every element is designed to make a real difference to your life:

  • Mind-body practices: Yoga and guided meditation will help reduce stress, ease muscle tension, and improve sleep quality, giving you tools to calm your mind even on busy days.
  • Self-care tools: Workshops teaching stress management, boundary-setting, and self-compassion will help prevent burnout and give you the confidence to look after your own needs.
  • One-to-one support: Confidential mental health sessions provide personalized guidance to help you navigate challenges, process emotions, and build coping strategies that work for you.
  • Creative healing: Art therapy offers a safe space to express feelings you might find hard to put into words, boosting emotional wellbeing and fostering creativity.
  • Home wellbeing support: Free decluttering and deep cleaning of your home reduces the mental load of managing a busy space, creating a calm environment where you can rest and recharge – because a clear space often leads to a clearer mind.

Beyond individual support, you’ll also have the chance to connect with other carers, building a community of people who understand your journey and can offer mutual encouragement.
